This is a question that most of us have asked or get asked frequently. I recently went on a Colorado buck hunt and one of the new guys was asking that same question to me and some of the others that had gone a few times before. It’s a question that I ask myself practically every time I go on a hunt– whether it be elk, deer, turkey, or chukar. I know there are quite a few brand loyalists in the hunting community, but my quick answer is: whatever you feel comfortable in.
I attend sports shows, read gear reviews and continue to ask other hunters what they have used and liked. I recently paid a lot of money for a pair of boots that were highly rated online and had great reviews from friends. I tried them for a few months and they tore my feet up. My older, less expensive boots never gave me that hassle that these newer ones did. Not that the reviews were wrong, but they just weren’t a good fit for me.
